Everyday prepare your heart to receive the Living Word of God, which is the bread of life. Jesus said in Luke 4:4 that man does not live by bread alone but every word that proceeds out the mouth of God. The word that proceeds out the mouth of God is the bread of life because it is the living word that feeds our mind, spirit, soul and body.
We prepare our heart every day to hear from God by spending time in the presence of His living word. To enter God’s presence we have to willingly silence the distractions of our heart and let God reveal the desires of His heart. Our desires that are not in agreement with the desires of God’s heart is distractions. The weapons of choice to use every day is the weapon of obedience. As you enter God’s presence every day be prepared to not only hear His instructions, but obey His instructions.
Our spiritual weapon of choice in spiritual warfare is our obedience to what God has instructed us to do (2 Corinthians 10:1-6). This is how we win the war and all disobedience is punished. There are many battles within a war. The Lord told us in 2 Chronicles 20:1-30 that the battle is not our battle, but His battle. When we trust God in each battle of our life, we trust Him with the struggles of life. God wants us to demonstrate our trust through our obedience so He can give us rest from the enemies of our heart, better known as selfish desires. The enemy is at the root of every desire that is not in agreement with God’s heart.
Obedience to God’s living word makes our heart sensitive to the presence of God in us who desires to work through us. Disobedience to God’s living word hardens our heart to the presence of God. We punish disobedience when we bind it up by obeying God. Simultaneously, we loose the blessings of heaven to flow through us into our lifestyle because of our obedience. Through right relationship and right fellowship, we are restored into the image and likeness of God’s heart. This is how the breathe of God enters us and our mind, soul, spirit and body become alive.
Today, let us commit to positioning ourselves to hear God by spending time in the presence of His word. Deuteronomy 4:29 tells us,”But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul. To seek God is to pursue God’s presence. It is in the pursuit of His presence that we are made whole in mind, spirit, soul and body with nothing missing or broken because the perfect, living and powerful word of God heals our mind, spirit, soul and body. This pursuit of the presence of His living and powerful word, breathes life into our dry bones and our dead spirit. This is where we come alive because the word of God has come alive in us.
The word of God tells us in Hebrews 4:12,”the word of God is living and powerful and sharper than any two edge sword, piercing soul and spirit, joints and marrow and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of our heart. This means we have the ability to find heaven in us. God sits on his throne and lives when the word comes alive in the desires of our heart. The Holy Spirit is heaven on earth when He sits on the throne of the desires of our heart.
The Holy Spirit wants to become a consuming fire. The Holy Spirit wants to become a consuming desire. The Holy Spirit wants to become our consuming passion. Luke 11:13 says, “If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” Every good gift of God lives inside the gift of the Holy Spirit.
My prayer for all of us today is that our desire for the presence of the Holy Spirit will become a consuming desire in every area of our life. I pray that this consuming desire will cover and protect the gates and the doors to our heart. I pray that every day we will pursue God’s kingdom and righteousness first. As we do this, I rest in the belief that all things will be added to us because in our submission, the consuming desire of the Holy Spirit has been made strong. In the name of Jesus, Amen!
