Being Set Free To Trust

Who will you commit your trust to in your life? The world says trust is a fragile thing. Trust is easy to break, easy to lose, and one of the hardest things ever to get back. This belief is only true if you put your trust in people and not in the Creator God. As people we are imperfect. Why would you trust an imperfect person with the desires and needs you will encounter in life?

At some point, when we put our trust in people or things, we will be disappointed. This disappointment may not always be intentional, but never the less will occur because of our finite ability to understand all things, our finite inability to be everywhere at once, and our finite inability to know what will occur in the present let alone the future. Why not decide today to have faith, belief and trust in God? This decision can be accomplished through your daily pursuit of God’s purpose for your life. In order to know how to obey God you first have to know how to hear God. To be able to hear God you first have to desire a relationship with God. To have a relationship with God you first have to desire to know God. To know God you first have to desire to know Him through the spirit and truth of His word (John 4:24). To know Him through the spirit and truth of His word you first have to desire to obey the spirit and truth of his word. Desire to trust the spirit and truth of His word above the facts of your life.

We come to know the truth when we get tired of living a lie. The truth is not a fact because facts change, but the truth remains the same because the truth is consistent and never changing. The truth is the revelation of God’s grace in your life. This is how you get to know the truth through intimately knowing His grace. God’s grace is the revelation of Jesus Christ, the manifested word in the flesh. John 1:14 tells us Jesus is full of grace and truth. This truth has the power to reveal our future from our present as well as bring understanding about our past to help issues of the heart. John 8:32 tells us that we should know the truth and the truth will set us free. We must lean to trust the truth and not just facts. Trust the Lord and not the situation. Trust the Lord and not the person. Trust the Lord and not the bad news. Trust the Lord and not your heartbreak. Trust the Lord and not your negative feelings or negative emotions. Whatever or whoever we decide to commit our trust to has the ability to determine our outcome. When we give our trust, we have given a person or thing the authority to dictate who we are, what we are able to accomplish, the way we are able to accomplish it and if we will be able to enjoy it. We allow people and life circumstances to set limitations on us by allowing ourselves to become in bondage to trusting people with the final outcome of our lives. Don’t just trust God to get you out of a situation, decide to trust Him before you allow yourself to enter a situation by seeking His grace and truth first. Don’t only seek His will, wait until He reveals His will to you before you respond. The word of God tells us in Acts 22:14, “The God of our fathers has chosen you that you should know His will, and the Just One, and hear the voice of His mouth.” God’s will is always to protect us and keep us safe from the evil of this world. His will is always to bless us with the revelation of His word so we may be blessed as we bless others with the truth of His word.

Every blessing or curse in life is manifested through responding to a desire within our heart. The desire is first planted in us as a thought that grows into a desire and then becomes an emotion that we act on. God tells us in His word that he gives us the authority to trample over the thoughts, words and actions of the enemy (Luke 10:19). God must obtain our obedience, approval, agreement and cooperation to fulfill our true desires. As people, we are the legal stewards of the earth’s domain, therefore, the legal stewards of what happens within the earth. When we obey God, He is able to bring the true desires of our heart to pass because we are one with the desires of God’s heart. The word of  God tells us in Psalms 37:4 that when we delight ourselves in the Lord, He will give us the desires of our heart.  Learn to trust the God in people. Trust God so you will rest in the abundance of His blessings.
