Positioning Ourselves To Desire Like God

The Lord God wants us to live to the full overflowing in abundance with nothing missing or broken.  The word of God tells us in 1 Corinthians 1:30, “But of Him (God) you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God—and righteousness and sanctification and redemption”. This redemption includes the ability to desire like God who transforms a once desperately wicked heart into a heart of righteousness.

Our strength is found in the excellence of God’s wisdom, who is Jesus, our righteous desire. The excellence of God’s wisdom provides instruction, knowledge, understanding and the power to live a productive and fulfilling life on earth. Proverbs 8 tells us the counsel is the Lord’s and sound wisdom; He is understanding and has strength. Believing the wisdom of God elevates you in His image and likeness that He originally created you in (see Genesis 1:26-28).

When we believe in Jesus, He renews the desires of a once desperately wicked and deceitful heart to become one with the desires of God’s righteous desires (Romans 10:1-13). Jesus is our Lord and Savior who saved us from the presence of evil desire ruling in our thoughts, words, emotions and actions. The more we spend time in the presence of God’s living and powerful word, He changes the desires of our heart when we desire more of His presence in our life.  Jesus conquered the power of sin that is the fruit of a desperately wicked and deceitful heart on the cross when the righteous desire of God decided to love us when we were yet sinners (Romans 5:8). All we have to do is accept the finished work of God’s righteous desire by spending time in His presence because His presence is our righteous desire. His presence is our power to be transformed into His image according to His likeness of righteousness (Matthew 6:33). We seek the presence of God when we position ourselves in prayer (2 Chronicles 7:14). We continue on the journey of pursuing God by spending time hearing and reading His word (Matthew 7:7-8).
